Benefits
Yoga is a dynamic practice -it's challenging and fun.
Anybody can practice yoga at any age. While some
poses are more challenging than others, yoga can be
done sitting in a chair or doing a full practice on the mat.
We tailor our programs to meet the needs of the group,
as well as providing attention to the individual.
The word “yoga” means “union.”  The goal of yoga
practice is, in part, to realize the union and connection
between the body, mind and spirit.  The greater part of
the goal is to realize that connection with the universal or
collective mind, body, and spirit.  Yoga allows the
individual to experience a connection within one’s self in
the moment.  Hatha Yoga, the physical practice,
incorporates breathing practice, physical poses,
relaxation, and meditation.  Yoga also cultivates strength
and flexibility for the mind, body, and spirit.   A regular
practice of yoga empowers the individual to make healthy
choices.  Yoga cultivates balance in life.
Although yoga has become very popular in this country in recent years, it is an ancient practice
originating in India, dating back 5000 years. The word "yoga", translated from Sanskrit, means "union, to
join or bring together". More than simply a physical practice, yoga guides us in understanding the
connection between our own body, mind, and spirit as well as our connection to other human beings and
life around the earth.

The
core principles of yoga practice include safe alignment in Hatha yoga postures (asanas), breathing
practice (pranayama), linking movement with breath, respecting your body's current physical state and
working at your individual level, quieting and focusing the mind (meditation), and rejuvenating the body
after practice in deep relaxation (savasana).
